Well, once upon a time there was an angel hovering over my left shoulder. She minded the practicalities while I would rant and rave. We spent weeks on end in bed just like John & Yoko. We spent our money like nothing. Like it was going out of style.
But the time goes by. You never realize when you’re a teenager. Wake up one morning and bang, it’s seven years down the line. Heard through a friend of a friend that now she is an aviatrix. Shoot. There are more things in heaven and earth than you could possible explain. La da da da da.
So now I’ve got a few tons of junk in a few square feet of apartment. It’s funny. If you let ‘em, you’re possessions just accumulate. But there’s a precious few things you couldn’t bear to pawn off at a yard sale. So you either give ‘em away or else you cart ‘em with you from town to town until they dissipate. Dissipate.
And sometimes the losses make you want to lose yourself in the liquor. And sometimes the lovers make you wish you’d never played at all. And sometimes a teenage angel makes a hell of a memory. Other times the passing of time don’t heal nothing. But tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick. And tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.
And still I will admit that it would be far too goodamn simple just to want to live happily ever after, happily ever after, happily ever after, happily ever after, happily ever after… The End.
